Though late in 80s this is epic post punk at its best.

Almost every tune on the album is super strong. But should pick the best of the best then it would be: Picture of You, Love Song, Lullabu, Fascination Street and Homesick.

Damn this is a good album.

It has taken me a long while to get into this album. Im a big fan of dark music and have always put Faith and Pornography as my favourite Cure albums, but this has just got better with repeated listens and its now my fav. I think its the best Cure album because it mixes their gloomy emotional side with the hooks they developed in the mid 80's. One of the best albums of all time, just bought the deluxe CD set and can't stop playing it.

This album rocks, if you haven't heard "Lullaby" mixed on the dancefloor you're truly missing out.

i can definitely see the shoegaze comparisons. it's in the huge "wall of sound" aesthetic and hidden melodies, similar to MBV. i'm not saying it sounds like MBV, it just has that same layered production technique. i've been listening to this album for years. it's without a doubt one of the best ever made, whether you want to label it shoegaze, goth, post-punk or whatever

I wouldn't say "wall of sound" it is still really stripped in a post-punk way it's just with a lot more instruments. No sound is there for the sack of taking up space like it is in shoegaze (not saying that is bad).

yea but if you have good headphones at least, you can really get lost in the grandiosity of most tracks on here. they're huge. that's what i mean by "wall of sound". there are a whole lot of instruments that really fill up the soundscape as much so as any shoegaze song imo. lovesong and lullaby aren't those songs though lol
