my ranking would just switch phronesis and gnosis. i wish i could get more into phronesis its solid but chris's melody game is imo pretty weak on it which is a shame bc he kicks so much ass on amanuensis. he still sounds great tho

See I love his melodies on Phronesis. That fuckin' Michael Jackson breakdown on "Celeste" is gold and his performance on "The Watch" makes it one of Monuments best songs.
This is probably another shit take but I wish they would rerecord Gnosis with a better vocalist and production. I think that's the biggest killer for me. It reminds me a lot of Periphery's first album in that the riffs are their but the rough vocal performance makes it hard to enjoy at times.

Give Gnosis the old Exoplanet treatment like Contortionist got, yeah? That'd be cool.
Finally got my preorder CD copy of this. Have to say the packaging is a bit underwhelming; they went with this rough matte finish and much of the artwork detail is lost, which is unfortunate because the digital versions are gorgeous.
The band probably financed it themselves so I don't want to be harsh on it. Still, I'd figure the record label would help cover some of those costs? They did include lyrics to all the songs at least.

That is disappointing to hear because I thought the cover art was pretty great. Covid really did a doozy on some of my favorite artists

Yeah it's unfortunate, but finally listened to the CD quality of the album and it sounds really good.
I think this is a solid 4. There's definitely room for more variation and growth on their next album, but the band is showcasing a lot of talent and unified themes here. The quality and vision are tight, despite the pandemic and lineup changes.

Andy's high pitched cleans are too clean for me, but his range is insane with the hard vox. Chris had a better tone but man was Monuments making generic stuff with Chris. Interesting to see where this goes. Monuments just announced a tour so I'm considering going and checking out the live performance.

Andy is great but needs some variation on the next release.

He’s fine as long as he doesn’t sing so high cause he gets whiny

Much prefer Andy's vocals to Chris', although you can tell he's going for the same style rather than putting his own stamp on the Monuments sound.

I really don't understand Andy's appeal. He has great range but he sounds pretty generic to me. Baretto had a pretty unique voice and a more soulful style which made the band stand out to me. Not so much on this.

Matt was their best vocalist and I'm still kinda not over him leaving after all these years lol
