I feel that...I also feel, tho, that one thing is to sound like other bands, other thing is to dangerously copy some distinctive song/section from other band. Ngl I have fun with this tho.

From a standpoint of style and quality, how does this compare to the rest of their discog?

I'd say it's an evolution from both The Sea of Tragic Beasts and The Great Collapse. More atmosphere, more groove. While the aforementioned albums are goddamn great this is definitely a big step above imo.

Shadow of Intent released a much stronger deathcore album.

I screwed myself for this album. Played the hell out of all the singles so that only left me with the last half of the album basically. Makes for a weird listening experience all the way through. I'm loving "A Higher Level of Hate" and "Collateral Damage" the most, but this is a great listen top to bottom. These guys know how to write a solid 4/5 album almost every time. Still waiting for their masterpiece though.

I think Two Towers is becoming my favorite, really a peak deathcore track

For real, the genre has come quite a long way to get there

From the beginning BREEEES of Lie To My Face to almost prog like chuggery of Two Towers, yes it has. It has come unimaginably far.

Also I realized the album title starts with "Oh" and not "On" and that's kinda lame. Makes the album title sound like some Dr. Seuss shit

I lowkey like the album title

Like it's silly but completely out of field for the genre so it just adds a bit more to that differentiation

Yeah the Oh, especially without the comma, is odd

There are some great moments here and there, and overall it's a good album. Nonetheless I think the band is better when they sound more death metal than metalcore.

The Gojira parts are really annoying.

"Far From Heaven" intro is clearly "Another World"-like.

And the beginning of "Two Towers"... I instantly thought I was listening to "Flying Wales".

I'd add the Gojira parts are as good as annoying, but yeah pretty much my take on page s first comment, so agreed

Yes the Gojira parts are good, as I said, the album is enjoyable, but overall the lack of personnality is a problem for me.

This is tone porn. I mean Savages alone with all those sweeps and squeals and what have you ohmygawd. This album is definitely way more focused on riffs than the last two. Despite that however, it's also way more frantic. Josean went OFF, however, it's at the cost of less parts that are instantly memorable. Just a drummer's nitpick though.
