That new Foxing album is delightful. Lightning is still one of the worst songs of the year tho

I like that mah boy Yoni has a feature, but really not huge on it overall. Seen em live a couple times cuz I’m from STL and they put on a fun show. Favorite was when they got on stage with mwY during encore to help perform In a Sweater Poorly Knit

New Foxing does have a couple of good bops, but I'll be amazed if there's still an active discussion on it by the end of the yr

I'm a bit disturbed to see you agreeing with pika. Glitch in the matrix, no doubt
|
| |
Wha, since when do I never agree with Pika?? Or was that @Veldin?
Also I'm drafting this boi rn and matrix was one of the last words I used before putting down my pen to procrastinate, hexen hexen scenes

It's pretty good but it flew by, too short
|
| |
it is short so that you can listen to it again sooner
and take note of more things
and then repeat
until you can soak it up properly
go boi
also fuck it, I'm bumping this
|

almost a 4.1

still not a huge fan of this mix. doesn't have near the amount of depth that it should, considering how dynamic the songs are and how dense the instrumentation is
holy vacants might be the best mixed album i've ever heard, so it's not really a fair comparison

'I respect this argument a lot, but I think this dynamic, polyphonic feeling was all accomplished in their last few recordings while having the vocals be crystal clear and in-balance. I'm just unsure if the mixing decisions here were really necessary for what they were trying to accomplish.'
this kind of sums it up for me. sometimes you really can have your cake and eat it too

Gotta give this album props for being so thematically tight. Despite having most of same characteristics of their latter day material, this still sounds pretty distinct from their past few albums after a few plays

Re: An epic climax near the end, I feel Brother accomplishes that with flying colors. I think on a first pass, we might be so used to TS putting this epic climax right at the end, so when we saw another 5 minute song coming after Brother, we might have expected a Years/Stanley/ND to be coming next, especially given that this is labeled an album and not an EP so by the time we finish Brother not much time has passed. But Brother goes >hard

Oh and I'd put Lesson 3 on that list of epic climaxes too
