2.0 experience, will never listen this again in full, my roommate will destroy my soul by replaying constantly Believe what I Say and Keep My Spirit Alive. checks out
Sowing highlighted the highlights; all the self referential, cringe wordplays and god god god god god god like this is jesus is king 2 made me really loathe myself for doing this
Singles are good rap. jesus lord can hit hard etc. but the overall donda experience is a dud

The bassline in Off The Grid is fantastic. The additional 22 minutes of "part 2" tracks is unnecessary though.

theres a couple sick basslines for sure. the production in general is so understated it's pretty refreshing.

I’m not impressed by this pompous douche, he sucks compared to Nas or any rapper that actually raps with a purpose. Kanye’s old shit is good however.

The new Busta Rhymes album is incredible, listen to the difference in quality on essentially every aspect compared to Donda

People definitely take Kanye too seriously, but to say he only makes good beats is also underselling him. He's clearly a talented fashion designer too. Works with Vogue and does a lot of haute stuff, not just streetwear.

Also his ability to surround himself with talented people is a skill in and of itself. He covers up a lot of his shortcomings (simple drum beats, average-at-best flow, visual arts) by getting people to take care of that for him.

As someone who is bipolar, this album feels cathartic as heck.

As someone who went to the first and third listening parties, I'm really glad this turned out as well as it did. It's in 4/4.5 territory for me. The most glaring criticisms I can levy against it are that the tracklisting is a mess compared to the sequencing of the first two listening parties and that the outro to God Breathed is simply way too damn long. I don't mind the repetition elsewhere because of the religious aspect and repetition is a huge part of religious music, but God Breathed is simply too much, too soon in the tracklist. The beats are hard here though and Kanye actually seems to care about rapping again lol Overall, it's like a more spacey Pablo.
The pt. 2's are more bonus tracks than anything so I'm not really counting them.

@Odal I think this album will be more appreciated later on, people aren't ready for this kind of hip hop album just yet. Its like he is speaking a language most people don't understand yet, probably sounds like noise to many people.

This is like that meme of J Cole stans saying "You dont get it, you need a certain amount of intelligence to appreciate Cole"

I think Kanye's albums have a history of aging well, but I don't think it's a matter of people not being ready for the music haha
If anything, I think it's a matter of people usually, with the past few releases, not being ready for HIS music due to whatever antics he's up to (Jesus is Kind doesn't count lol). Lost in the shuffle of a lot of the DONDA discourse from the last few days has been the actual music, which I again think is excellent here with a high batting average.

There’s a reason why older people prefer the 90’s & early 00’s hip hop it was less about the fluff and was just gritty passionate lyrics & sick beats, no auto tune mumble nonsense
