this had like 30 negative ratings before anyone ever actually heard it lol. i have a feeling my rating will grow as i am checking again and realizing how fun n solid the second half is if i’m not rly paying attention. remote control and moon go well next to each other

If we are talking the version with The Lox that I didn't realize is unceremoniously tacked on at the end here then yes I agree

I'm sure it's partially that my expectations for this were in the gutter, but this is pretty enjoyable and it does have that 'personal' feel that all Kanye does

I wouldn't be surprised if this album births sum weirdcunt christian organ-synth sermon rap subgenre or becomes influential in some way. I mean i don't know any other rap album that sounds like this. but then again i didn't listen to jesus is king thank god.

there are a couple of those here. the compression heavy production style of new again is sick and modern in a very kanye way

however i am pretty sure i could never truly connect to an album that is so unrelentingly religious for nearly 2 hours. and the marilyn manson thing is still borderline unforgivable even as this grows on me

There's just next to nothing enjoyable here for me. Remote Control was all right. Absurdly challenging to sit through.

very little here is outright bad, but good lord is this a tedious listen. after the first couple tracks everything blends into a midtempo, autotuned sludge.

review is a head-scratcher. you acknowledge that more than half of this 26-song album is essentially meritless, yet you inexplicably deem it “great.”

"after the first couple tracks everything blends into a midtempo, autotuned sludge."

Facts. Even the production, which is usually his strong suit sounds extremely tame, and the songs themselves being very repetitive dont help either.

This makes me appreciate KSG so much more. Shit is Ye's last truly great album even tho its really a collab with Cudi.

If Kanye had narrowed this down to its best 12-14 songs, it would have been a bit of a comeback album for him. But at 27 songs this thing is just way too bloated and self-indulgent. Also I get its a gospel album but the church organs on a lot of the songs make them all blend together and sound like one long, boring, lethargic song.
