The ending almost feels like they're going to go back to the band's original sound for the next release. They might as well keep this hybrid going, really.

Or we could get a full album of Black Brick. Never know with these guys.

The relaxed nature of this album is really jiving with me. Sure, the music is more relaxed and spacey, but there's still some massive moments here and there. George does enough whispering, crooning, growling, and screeching to keep things interesting. I think it was a super smart songwriting decision to end the album with a massive freak out of black metal after all the other more controlled outbursts. It ends the album on a cathartic note and reminds older fans they're still the same guys despite the stylistic shift.

They've been doing the hybrid between Black Metal and Shoegaze for their entire career. They struck the perfect balance on Sunbather, they dabbled to one side with Black Brick, now they're at the other side with this. Imo, their next album should incorporate Clarke's cleans with his growls more seamlessly.

These are all incredibly talented guys, but honestly Dan carries the band. He adds so much color and vibrance to these songs its unbelievable.

Yeah they got even more detailed with the instrumentation and layering, it's great.

adore the intricacy on this, agreed
still trying to reconcile this album. Feeling like Other Language does the best at capturing what they were going for outside of the singles. Such a tune.

I still stand by saying that Roads might possibly be better than Sunbather if Dan was the drummer at the time.

Sorry for leaving the 4.5 club, Jay. Already nearing 4 listens today and this album is just incredible. I usually drop a review after multiple listens, but this just gets better.

I’m not sure that I’d go quite that far as Sunbather is probably in my top 10 albums of all time, but damn this is pretty close. Could become neck and neck within time. I have had this album on loop for nearly 24 hours. There were several albums I wanna check right now but damn I can’t bring myself away from this album
