@Ledd. Would like to toss one doom rec at you considering you already dig Neurosis. Yob is like a doom/stoner post metal band with some Neurosis-like tendencies. Def low and slow and the singer/guitarist is one of the greatest in the game.

Also, Ledd is a dude that doesn't give up easily. In relation to enjoying doom I see a lot of people saying "it's not for me" when they should question instead "am I up to it?".
Thou is one of the better recs but it feels as if it comes after yk? My fave sludgedoom band though.

Idk man, I feel like forcing oneself through stuff that is not enjoyable always seemed futile in hindsight.
This comes from someone that has tried this on several genres. But in the end it's just about having a good time or not, there's nothing to prove.

To enjoy doom, you have to humble yourself and be prepared to get bored and smacked and sunk in it. Acknowledge that going slow and tight properly is sometimes sweeter and heavier and harder. This is not about you. If you don't get into doom,well, just go fuck yourself.
