Listening really carefully to each song reveals a whole bunch of stuff going on. Genius.

IDONTKNOW threw me way off, but it's still pretty decent. So what's up with the GlitchKing portion?

This is pretty cool. Like a better Astronoid mixed with the rhythmic interest of As Real.

I get finding it a disappointment though. Melting Sun was more delicate and immersive. And the guitar tones had more space to create impact.

Glitchking is the counterpart album to this, only available as a bonus for the 2CD booklet preorder. It's comprised of trippy, otherwordly electronic stuff that's eerie/foreboding. It's an interesting contrast to this album

""No idea where the naysayers are coming from" vocals and guitar work are both a pretty significant departure from their discography, shouldn't be a surprise that eventually some people wouldn't care for the change"

sounds like Herbst's voice to me, he's used this style of singing since the bonus track on Agape, the one Asylum Party cover. Doesn't sound different from his singing on Melting Sun or lowcityrain. I do detect a bit of autotune here and there, like in the bands Astronoid or Comatose.

this is growing with more listens, even if "The Bubble" and "Amber" remain my favs. also im pretty damn sure this is gonna be the most ""soft"" or summery metal record released this year, even compared to the new Deafheaven. tho i definitely feel a lot of melancholy coming out of those singles, whereas this is just...breezy and really, wild beauty.

This got a really positive Pitchfork review, apparently it’s the reviewer’s personal AOTY but the committee rating was only a 7.5.

That's still a good score, but it should be an 8 :[

Fruit and colors are a great aesthetic I must say.
