This British new wave of experimental rock sucks because their country is rich af now. Back in the 80s they were like the poorest country in Western Europe so they had real anxiety to cope with and, natually, the post-punk goodness came from a real place. That's why Black Midi, BCNR and Squid all come across as spooned art school kids. They have no real story to sell. We all know these guys live in Soho, sleeping with exclusive Russian women, driving Teslas, living the dream. They're plastic and pastiche, that's what they are. And yes, they can play instruments. So what? The Dutch can play soccer, but they'll never play it like Brazil.

‘No such thing is a bad chocolate‘ - close enough, it happens rarely. Not sure I have a fave, just give me anything from the mainstream sugary as fuck bollocks to the intensely dark bitter stuff. I gobble it all up.

Chocolate cheesecake too, or that indulgent double chocolate ice cream (okay this DOES have to be the good shit, cheap choc ice cream tastes baaaaad). I’m not fussy though.

I don’t give a fuck about that if I like the music, which I do. Seems like people care less about what’s actually happening on the record and more about this arbitrary and made-up standard of authenticity

You know deep inside that I am right, no matter how much you are into succubus girls.

My affection for succubus girls is entirely unrelated to this discussion

if you do not consider what is happening on this music to be authentic music then your standards are made up. the only real standards of authenticity are those of succubus bangbois. they are real standards because they are not made up. only bad standards are made up.
they'll never play it like Brazil.

Well obviously my personal standards as a succubus bangboi would be the most correct c'mon now
