Lyrics on this are atrocious. Im beating a LONG dead horse here, but how do you go from the lyrics on Blue to this nonsense??? "You've got me crying like when Aslan died" "Sometimes she hands me a jar of Jif, And I feel good when I open it" bruh

this band has never really been good though, outside of saying ''Oh that's kind of a catchy melody. neat'' the band has nothing more to offer, they never did. it's strange how people think they can do more or make something amazing, they aren't capable of it

it's also odd when people say the band sold out, they were pop rock from the first album

but the first 2 albums are good though, id say you are in the minority by not thinking they were great albums

Inconsistency is what i love most in Weezer music. You never know what you gonna get on their newest album.

They were average for the time period they were released, in in my opinion, plenty of bands had a similar sound to this band at the time. This band was charming due to the sort of self deprecating lyrics, catchy songs with chunky guitars and feel good melodies, but aside from that they have nothing else to offer but that was hardly unique for the time.

Why do fans like the earlier sort of feel good pop rock/garage rock but they hate the bands music now even though its' still just immature self deprecating lyrics and guitars?

"I'll never understand how people love a song whose lyrics are "What's with these homies dissin' my girl / Why do they gotta front?" but find a way to hate everything else that Weezer has done lol."

Lol because these songs don't have the great songwriting and mixing s/t and Pinkerton had. Green Album looks like a masterpiece compared to this, and the second half of that album is the least memorable thing imaginable.

Green album was kind of even in terms of memorable material, keep in mind that shit starts off with don’t let go of all songs while side 2 has glorious day and simple pages

Glorious Day is a great song tho lol

and yea the sellout thing is dumb af because they were always blatantly a pop rock band, the thing is when the chips fall right they are probably the best pop songwriters in the entire game
