Grace For Drowning, Raven, and HCE are all worthy albums

Nah if you’re going to start somewhere start with Deadwing by Porcupine Tree.

yeah Porcupine Tree's best agreed, but they're talking solo albums

Grace for Drowning is miles ahead of the rest of his solo stuff, just so you have the faxts

It all depends what you're looking for. Insurgentes is a creepy, very diverse sort of development from FoaBP and The Incident. Grace for Drowning is more sprawling and very adventurous/unpredictable, Raven is a more compact and at times emotional 70s prog styled album, HCE is a perfect, melodic, more modern prog album, and TtB is a layered, colorful art rock album that brings back the diversity of Insurgentes, but way more 80s experimental pop influenced. All their bonus discs/EPs have worthwhile songs too.

If I can only take 1, it would be HCE

I'm really torn between HCE and Raven. They're very different to compare, but that's why I can't chose one or the other.

Raven is super infectious and hard to get sick of but HCE has a lot of depth to explore so I really wouldn't know which to pick

As someone who followed Steven Wilson and his musical adventures for a decade now...this album is just a big nope. Feels empty and lacking any substance.

welp, I guess this is exactly what I expected. a few nice moments and melodies but mostly bereft of any interesting ideas or depth. might bump the rating down if I end up liking this any less

Yikes. The blues-inflected parts like Eminent Sleaze are pleasantly hooky, else I am finding very few things to redeem here.
