I've always had a high degree of tolerance for off-kilter vocals, but I also feel that if the sound of someone making music-noises with their song-holes is the only thing keeping you from enjoying a fabulous piece of art, are you a REAL music fan? And just so you know, my pinky is extended as I drink my Baileys-infused coffee right now so you know I'm legit.

i mean there is something to it. it pierces my ears like a powerdrill, but i guess context builds the image

this is far from an average album, but it is nowhere above 2.5 for me.

just not my cup of tea, or indeed any liquid that is healthy for my species to consume

i'll try PINK! but maybe not tonight. it's been enough of Seiko stuff on me

I'm a fan...well, am I? I'm like, half a fan haha. I enjoyed her early works, but she lost me after her BEST ALBUM SENNOU (fight me nerds), and this couldn't re-capture the magic enough for me to crawl back. That said, her voice can grate on you. Shiina Ringo has another one of those "to taste" voices, but Oomori can take that to another level with how obnoxious, and in your face she can choose to be. Definitely not for everyone.

Sennou as her best is still my pick for cert, but weirdly I care much less about that album lyrically than everything she's done since (including this and psst Cole the review paraphrases the shit out of it)

and Dakyoushi is maybe her best obnoxious pop banger to date, threw me for one when it dropped as a single but hot damn that's an adore now

I’m surprised I liked this as much as I did, but the opener set a really really high bar. I wish more of the album indulged in that shoegazy sound
