High praise... I am just but a peasant, so still have to wait until tomorrow to give it a proper spin. Will report back with initial rating and thoughts on the record after I have given it a few spins.

“My rank: Projector > Damage Done > Construct > Fiction > Character > Moment“

The album isn’t even officially out yet... seems like ranking it last only makes sense when you haven’t even had any amount of time to warm up and familiarize yourself with it.

Mikaels cleans and the solos are better than ever, unfortunately the rest just can't keep up

Is it just me or has Jivarp become lazy af?

First impression is that the whole thing sounds bland and tired, will listen a few times more and see if I want to raise my rating.

From the mixed/negative reviews elsewhere, I expected every song after The Dark Unbroken to sound as slow and sparse as Day To End. But it's brisk throughout, with tasty lead guitar work, and rich colourful synths that instantly recall Haven. Stanne's cleans haven't sounded better, either. A brilliant album to my ears, their best since Character.

Jivarp's performance is pretty lethargic and uninspired in the singles

Space Jester: I do the same thing with WATV. Shadow in Our Blood and Dream Oblivion are mediocre and set the album off on a sour note. When you look at the Tour Edition / Zero Distance EP tracks, it's clear the WATV sessions produced an amazing album's worth of material. Trouble is, they included mediocre tracks all throughout the album and left the best ones out.

My favourite tracklist for the best version of WATV is:

1. Zero Distance

2. Out of Gravity

3. The Fatalist

4. The Grandest Accusation

5. Her Silent Language

6. To Where Fires Cannot Feed

7. Star of Nothingness

8. Arkhangelsk

9. I Am the Void

10. Surface the Infinite

11. Iridium

Convinced at this point that these guys will never make a bad album, but will never make another great one either.

waiting till my copy comes to listen to this one, but that's how I felt about the last 3 albums (although Construct has grown on me). which I'm fine with, they had an amazing run of top-tier albums.

Yeah doesn't matter what they make from now on, Fiction and The Gallery are eternal jams.

Well maybe if they went the way of In Flames I'd be a little upset but I have enough faith in Mikael and co. that will not happen
