you bring up a good point gjoon, I rated it poorly about 5 or 6 years ago. I felt it being "black metal", it was in my wheelhouse but me bashing it back then while other people enjoyed it made me look obnoxious, and it was certainly not my finest hour. I actually noticed I had rated it so low more recently, and questioned why I even bothered with something that clearly wasn't for me.

U know what is hella obnoxious? Not understanding subjectivity and complaining about ppl rating shit they don't like on a rating site

Not to mention that entirely defeats the point of the site

Useful

Another thing

Neofolk is in my wheelhouse

Black metal is not

Yet I still don't like this and still like ark work

thats kinda funny, didnt even know you liked that

just seem weird he was going hard on not rating things you hate if theres "clearly fantastic musicianship and songwriting" ... and then 1.5 one of the most boundary pushing things in modern black metal

Yet another thing
High ratings can be obnoxious too
Folklore for instance

A matter of perspective innit

Not to mention technical proficiency and good songwriting are both still subjectively measured and also far from the sole qualities of what makes music enjoyable to an individual

Like better go 5 dream theaters discog ig cuz wow they can play instrument

In b4 i have to explain why technical proficiency and good songwriting are subjective

"true but giving it a 1.5 when there is clearly fantastic musicianship and songwriting, just because you don't like flutes, or it's too "bardlike" or whatever is a cheap undeserved low blow to an album. And whatever, people can just say it's just a rating or just an opinion, but sometimes it just comes across as obnoxious"

Agreed.

I like how he lowered his rating out of spite.

Also I think the sound is very specific to Galicia, so if you've never been to Spain I think you might be missing out on some level, sadly.

As everyone knows I am more inclined to (and have a personal relationship) with AndalucĂa - so for me there is a detachment (even if I enjoy their music a lot)
