This is classic Branden drumming style, doesn't really sound like Greiner's style at all lol. The riffs aren't similar either, idk what you're hearing

I don't really hear it besides that section towards the end of Sunlifter

Cascade Locks sounds like something ABR would try to make. Heavy emphasis on TRY.

I honestly didn't like Griener's drumming for a while until recently, cause he had a lot of evolving to do imo. Which is funny cause now I don't like ABR hardly any. I was into Greiner for a sec in high school, but shortly after, I was looking at Matt Gartska and Danny Walker and those guys just stomp him for me. Branden from Misery Sigs has historically sounded cooler, with more creative parts than a lot of Matt's rlkk fills, mid tempo double bass beats, and toothless hammer blasts.
I just don't get ABR from their riffing style at all. Misery Signals have never done that fake melodeath thing.

You’ve never listened to either of those bands if you think they sound the same outside of both being melodic metalcore lol
And greiner is good, but his wildest drumming is on their first LP whereas Branden Morgan has gotten more and more outrageous every single album, dude could drum circles around most anyone

Basically what botb said. ABR feel like they come more from that Killswitch/As I Lay Dying side of things and Misery Signals definitely come from more of a Shai Hulud lineage. lol Which neither come from the Rorschach/Botch/Converge school, so they aren't as sick as the best metalcore out there.
Idk about Branden drumming circles around anyone, cause I've heard too many amazing drummers all over the music spectrum for skill or "best" to be anything more than relative at this point. Dude's definitely probably approaching that "one of the best in the world" category though.

Except for the Rorschach drummer being on Misanthropy Pure but I know what you meant lol

Well, I mean, Shai Hulud sound nothing like Rorschach though so you get it. haha
Edit: So was that tagline a fuckin' Saosin reference?

As mediocre as this album is, comparing Misery Signals to complete rubbish like Counterparts or ABR should be a crime.
Certain songs are definitely growing on me, but this really still just sounds generic. Jesse sounds great for the most part IMO but the instrumentals, while still excellent for "Metalcore" standards, are absolutely not up to par with Misery Signals standards.

Counterparts is not a good band... at all... I thought this was common knowledge and I was saying something everyone knew lol.
Instrumentals are ok but the vocalist is real bad and the lyrics are some of the cringiest I've had the displeasure of listening to/viewing. Having every song be centered around depression with the most basic lyrics is not good.
