I hereby raise you one Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - but yeah those guys fuck my ears hard, in a mostly unpleasant way.

(hey just realised you didn’t answer my earlier Pyrrhon related question).

oh sorry friend.

"If I didn’t like Mother of Virtues, will the new Pyrrhon change my mind?"

no

edit: Or should I say "I don't think so, but we never know. The fact I love more now bands like Artificial Brain f.e. I kinda dig their sound a bit more now on both albums, yet still a very unengaging listen."

i only mentioned car bomb because that riff in the second half of the greater good reminded me of them

Yeah, this isn't wearing off for me at all. So strong and bold, front to back.

Greater Good for some reason reminded me of Beyond the Unknown by Edge of Sanity

I still haven't gotten into that band, surprisingly enough.

The growls and chugs do sort of lend to a similar feel. I think the guitarwork, structure, and grooves feel a lot less straightforward than the Edge of Sanity tune though. But that song was still sick. Definitely should bump them up on my future listening list.

Oh most definitely less straightforward. Pretty sure this would have blown people's minds in 1992.

songwriting of this one is nice and dynamic even if sometimes the individual parts are just good and not incredible

After hearing this like 6 times I am definitely reminded me of the band Native Construct, like a lot

Also get DsO’s Devouring Famine vibes from the drums on the second track

Melt-Banana improves every thread (hence my avi) so I guess that passes?

lol, from a metal_archives review: "The vocals vary in range, from high pitched black metal shrieks to guttural growls, lower and deeper; impressions of the very souls of the tortured working class in the most savage and oppressive stages of late capitalism."
