I dare anyone who rated this below a 3 to re-listen to Concrete and not bump up their score.

This album never gets old. I really didn't expect to listen to this so many times after the confusing first listen.

I listened to the original Freed From Desire, and I don't want to throw shade at the writers, but... it was pretty bad. The original sounds like the bad cover, honestly. I can't believe how well Azier incorporated that song into his album. Never would have guessed it was a cover.

Yeah Entertainment is possibly my favorite from this. And the Freed From Desire cover is better than the original. So much to love here.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but is that Christian Bale on the cover art?

New album dropping in February, judging by the singles we have so far it seems like it's going to be much less accessible and much more jazzier/minimalist. Sounds nothing like this album, that's for sure.

im excited for it personally :]. He's one of the few artists I can proudly say I added to the database. An ex of mine had me listen to "Red Eyes" a decade ago on a quaint rainy road in Calistoga amongst Northern California's redwoods.

T-1 month until new album drops, like all of the singles except Pelechian. Expecting this to be a grower just like LD was for a lot of people

Didn't expect the new 7 minute long single to get on Apple Music's NMD playlist and become his most popular song ever lol

Thanks for the memories Sput - it's been a wild ride. This is for all intents and purposes my final review, but I'll see you around in the meds thread.

Lmao Dewi. Yeah, this was one of three official retirements I've had (2013, 2016, 2020) so I guess I'm due for another one soon? =P

New album is very weird and not as good as this, but I'm really digging the jazzy stuff and could easily see it growing on me to the tune of a strong 3.5/soft 4.

But yeah this album was and still is something else entirely.

Glad to see you like the new album Sow! I agree with you, the new album's not as consistent as this one - but songs like "Skin & Blister" and "Faces" are the best he's released in his career, and "What Does It Mean To Be Free" and "Slow Revolution" are simply transcendent. The former especially, I bet you it will be my SOTY.

He's taking a Scott Walker-esque path in his career and I'm all for it.
