Haha, I really can't hear the Grade influence in the songs I've heard from this album

This band is so much better than this, but then again I think their only fantastic albums are When Broken Is Easily Fixed (my favorite), Discovering the Waterfront, and This Is How the Wind Shifts.
Outside of those three, I tend to like their stuff on a song-by-song basis. These guys were my favorite band for a couple years when I was a teenager though so I have a soft spot for them and always want them to put out a great record. Their live shows still kick ass.

I strangely feel like Discovering the Waterfront keeps getting better with age.

Same, every time I go back and expect it to have grown off me. The opposite ends up happening.

The fact that they wrote Three Hours Back in 2005 is incredible to me. It's easily a top 5 if not top 3 song of theirs IMO. The bass line getting its shining moment in the second verse is bliss every time I hear it.
I'm listening to DtW now after listening to Shipwreck, How the Wind Shifts, I Am Alive, and A Beautiful Place to Drown this morning and DtW stands out as the best.
Shane's voice is probably my favorite on DtW and they don't write choruses like they did on their first two albums.

I wish i could agree

Went from a stone cold 5 for me when I was in middle/high school to a 3.5 these days. Wind Shifts is definitely my favorite at this point

run from shipwreck to wind shifts is all i really come back to now but all 3 of those albums go so hard (rescue is def their most underrated)

I think most of the choruses are too weak on Shipwreck and I don't love the production on it. My favorite song off it is the title track but according to the review thread here, nobody really likes that song. American Dream sucks though.

I unironically think this is the bands best work. I love this album. "Say Yes" and "Where You" hit me in the emo kid feels. I unabashedly have he musical tastes of a 14 yr old scene girl.
