Mary is 100 per cent their best song.
...this is really fucking good, though. I will be very surprised if this new album isn't their best.

The man ain't wrong
The album title does not give me hope in regards to them not giving into their hippie wypipo worst tendencies tho I will say

so the new song is in fact some hippie Big Map Of The World vegan pet cafe bullshit for anemic saps who eat so little spice that the inside of their mouths is a localised sensory deprivation chamber
i don't even like this band half the time, but the thought of that being their best is hysterical

Ok I was hyped but now... I'm sad.

'who eat so little spice that the inside of their mouths is a localised sensory deprivation chamber'

No, but I don't hear the hippie-ness. This is like the funnest Big Thief song I've heard.

So far I still prefer Lenker's solo work to Big Thief, but the new songs are pretty good

!!! how much buffet did sir consume?
and the hippie vibe i'm tracing is less peace n love and more shallow approximation of l.c.d. "world music" (aka the Vibe i get whenever zany anglophone bands do bland things with those kinds of percussive melodies) if that figures??

I also prefer solo Lenker (abysskiss is pretty much perfect), but I'm able to treat that material and the band material as very separate, which probably says something good about the band.

Abysskiss is one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years... fucking incredible stripped-down folk music

'l.c.d. "world music" (aka the Vibe i get whenever zany anglophone bands do bland things with those kinds of percussive melodies)'
Okay, that is a very good description, I think I know exactly what you mean. I don't hear it, but I get it. I'm reminded of some of the more percussive moments off of Ben Howard's last, which would make sense cause I think Krivchenia was on there too. And how much Sri Lankan food? Never enough.
