Jamming right now. I don't like hardly any metalcore but this sounds pretty good. A stretching listen for me but enough jazzy, more melodic passages to bail me out just before it starts to feel too much.

'do pikachus even have vaginas though'
Female ones must do, how did they discover that Pichu was a thing otherwise/how do they breed? - unless their mating rituals are magical and don't involve physical contact. In fact I choose to believe the latter for the sake of my childhood.
I can't believe y'all just discussing the album when life-defining questions such as this one went unanswered, for shame.

"can we pls automatically disqualify anyone who nominates all we love we leave behind or anything by august burns red."
Fuck you Pika:

Edit: Option Paralysis is other contender, if 2010 counts

2010-2019 my friend, so yeah it counts.

Oh shooooot thought Option Paralysis was 2009 but this changes my list. Need to check this, no idea if I'll vibe with it but am intrigued

OK those are my fave metalcore albums from the decade. Just bringing the obvious to the table here, cause sometimes we just try too hard not to.

This is better than all of those tbh

I'm still to listen this one friend X) it would be awesome, but mind I mentioned pretty much big records from genre defining bands with true self identity...With exception with Zao's, which are pretty much in line with these Botch type of bands, but that somehow reinvented themselves and redefine their sound on Well-Intentioned...according with what was needed in the current decade.
I'm heading towards this today! Pretty sure I'm going to like it. Still waiting for TSU to grow on me and maybe this album is the good opportunity for that.

I understand if TSU hasn’t completely sucked you in yet. It’s super long, dense, packed to the brim with ideas and is basically everything I love about metalcore in one package so I hope it grows on you despite you already liking it. The new one is shorter and more focused but still zany and I think you will find it easier to digest

Really loved the vibe, specs and techs on TSU but honestly can't remember any track per se, but only parts that could be shown on every track (songwriting-wise) and no particular musical narrative...
But yeah jumping on them hard this week m/

I haven’t heard the new CoL but I’ve never been a huge fan tbh. How likely is the new one to change my mind?
But yea this will be my AOTY most likely

not very likely but it doesn't hurt to check it out

Both TSU and this one are better than anything Converge released this decade.

You fail me
|

Converge is a top mxc band overall but I def don’t disagree with that Pika. And You Fail Me Redux doesn’t count!!
“not very likely but it doesn't hurt to check it out”
True. It’s probably not the band’s fault, post-metal is generally a hard sell for me
