"Freddie's "contributions" are tedious and passionately dull, he offers little in terms of variety or a strong sense of expression, making the experience flat.

Not that the instrumentals are any highlight of Madlib's work, but they are worth more than a colorless and uneventful rapper"

great description, echoes my sentiments nicely, although i don't really understand the phrase "passionately dull" lmao

id say id prefer to hear this instrumental but i think the features are mostly quite strong, i really wish he'd pair off with a different rapper, i just don't jive with gibbs at all

Fair enuff, hes always been a one trick pony, I just think at times he very good at that one trick.

Hes also amazing live whereas a lot of rap live is just wiggity whack

True that, Even when some of my fave MCs are playing live I dont jump on it as quick as if its another genre. Nothing more lifeless that a bunch or grown men shouting over a backing track

'OK EVERYBODY AND THIS SIDE OF THE ROOM SAY OOOOOOOHHHHHOOOOO'

Fuck off mate. £40 this ticket

one time i saw gza and the beats on the PA were like 30% (slash 100% terribly mixed) and his vocals were 100% and it was fucking aids.

Just listened to this finally. So good. Pinata is a bit better ultimately. Loved how Madlib met Freddie halfway on the production, stylistically. Situations is such a fucking banger. I love that raw ass Bone Thugs-y flow.

Edit: Also, Gibbs probably shouldn't be a candidate for anyone's top 5 list of MCs but he has a great voice and a unique flow, and is an all around excellent rapper. Head and shoulders above many of his current peers. I don't see how anyone would just treat him like a weak link. And madlib definitely brings out the best in him.

He should be the token "cop from the streets" in the next Law & Order series agreed
