I don't know, me and Sowing have been pretty eye to eye lately but for you I'll do it! (:

There are plenty of fantastic moments here but I do think the songwriting has taken a bit of a step back. Still, the man just has a lovable charm to him. It's hard to dislike anything he's done.

Hotel Bar, Running Styles, What I've Been Kicking Around, Stranger Now, and the t/t are my favorites so far.

Nice choices. Definitely still uncovering new favorites with each listen. The closing title track just kinda floated by me at first and now I adore it

oh hey! best new music, lol

The one time I take a harsh stance and feel strongly about it, the entire site disagrees, ha. I guess it's a change of pace from the Sowing 5, site avg 3.5

Not gonna try this yet as I haven't heard his past work but the divisive(ish)ness is certainly intriguing

this is actually a good place to start, since the main criticism is that it's underwhelming when you've heard his other work

I have every one of his LP's on vinyl and I didn't find it underwhelming in the slightest *shrugs*

don't even recall the last time I've been this entranced by an album. I've been unable to pull myself away or listen to anything else since the npr stream

I’ll check the older stuff first, with artists like this who I’ve been meaning to hear for a long time I prefer to have heard at least an album or two before a new release.

good call, idk why anyone would start with something that is considered a lesser work, even if it is good. doesnt seem like a proper introduction to an artist to me (though personally i think this is as good as The Wild Hunt which seems to be his most liked album, but i know im in the minority).

"Am I crazy to think that Dark Bird is possibly his very best?"

No, that's his best one.
