liked the bridge in It's Not Going Well but these guys unfortunately haven't had a WOW closer for 3 albums now. Ill Lit Ships is light years better than all of these weirdly subdued efforts

Side B might be my least favorite release from them :/ and it doesn't help that now the first half completely overshadows the 2nd...gahhh we'll see where it goes

Haha, I feel like we have the opposite taste when it comes to Blaqk Audio. I love the mid-tempo, 80's inspired, and more subtle stuff that they've been doing on these past two records. Not that I dislike the more synthpop/dancey stuff. My favorite is definitely stuff like 1948, I'm Coming Over, Black At The Center, and Caroline In The Clip. I would love a darker, more industrial album from them. They always seem to dip their toes into it and I always want more. I'm Coming Over has got a very Nine Inch Nails vibe but Davey's vocals keep it a bit more melodic and bright and I love that combination. It's catchy but nostalgic with a bit of an edge to it. Those kind of songs always age really well for me. It's Not Going Well is definitely going to take some time to grow on me.

That's kinda how I've felt about all if it tbh. Reflectively, however, I do want to spend more time with this release. I'm sure there's lots I'll enjoy.
Also, ditto to the comment about preferring their more subtle, 80s-esque tracks.

Also, just listened to a podcast where some AFI super fans got Jade Pudget on the pod for an hour. He said the new AFI album was supposed to have already dropped, but didn't because of COVID and all. He didn't give much insight into when we can expect it unfortunately.
He also gave the green light to raid his hard drive if/when he dies and drop the 100s of unreleased AFI tracks if we want.

i think they'll cave and put it out sometime next year. not sure if that's my actual thought or just blind optimism
and i kinda stand by the 2nd half killing the momentum for me with this but the first half is fucking choice still. zipper and consort are both contenders for soty

I am really excited for some more AFI, I am a bit worried though, I didn't care at all for the blood album, in fact it may be my least favorite post Jade joining release from them. Loved Missing man though, which could be a great sign.

I was listening to the new Chvrches album today and I cant remember what track it was but it sounded VERY Blaqk Audio and it dawned on me what a cool ep they could make together. Literally just have Jade collab with the 'band' and have Lauren tradeoff vocal duties with Davey. Would be GENIUS.
