this was ... surprisingly good, I can't decide between 3 and 3.5
I'll go with a 3 for now and will give this a few more listens

After about 6-7 full listens this album is finally clicking with me. I was very underwhelmed initially but it's a definite grower of an album, probably on par with "Halo of Blood". "Hexed", followed by "Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)" and "Say Never Look Back" is one of the best triple whammy of bangers you'll ever hear on an album. I'm not fully convinced on the re-recording of "Knuckleduster", not sure why they did it and stuck it at the end of the album.

First CoB album I've ever listened to in full, it's pretty good! I thought some of the singles were a little stranger, a lot of powerchords with some keyboard flourishes, but the album itself has a good variety of technicality in there and everything is pretty catchy m/
Didn't know Kunckleduster was a re-recording, was gonna say it might be my fav on this

oh weird, didn't know Knuckleduster was a rerecording either, it fits well as a closer on this. I guess it was originally recorded for Are You Dead Yet, and only appeared on a B-side EP

Yeh Knuckleduster was on "Trashed Lost And Strung Out" EP and also on the "In Your Face" single so this is the 3rd time it has appeared. I think I'm just used to the older version so this new one sounded a bit weird at first, actually sounds good now.

This is a very solid 4 at this point

I think 3.5 is a good place for it

Number of listens is into double figures now and I can finally justify to myself that 4.5 is a worthy score for this, Laiho and co have outdone themselves here.

yeah, so this does get better with multiple listens. It's not Follow the Reaper 2.0 or anything along those lines, but compared to their post-FTR output I find it to be rather enjoyable.

Still trying to get into this. Atm it's about on par with AYDY but Halo still stands as their best HCD album by a decent margin

I think I got everything wrong with this band, but I'm convinced that they became REALLY interesting during the time they released hate crew deathroll. I don't know why but the emphasis of thrash over melodic seems to work better with them...I don't know.
SORRY IF I DON'T GLORIFY THE FIRST 3 ALBUMS AS YOU DO, YOU LORDS OF METAL

@Dungeon since you ask, given that my old avatar for several years was a glowering photo of Hermione, I went with Lain as a replacement because she captures a similar disapproving style but is much more suitable to an online medium (dunno how much you know about the show, but reading a brief synopsis should put things in perspective). I like the character/show because of the amount of confusion and intrigue surrounding it, and because whenever she's portrayed in a cute/sexy light, it's usually more creepy than it is attractive, so it seemed a pretty appropriate basis for an av regardless of standard cute anime av tropes

I have a rec for you guys which based on the single alone will prob destroy this record but will also probably be cursed to stay buried in the digital vaults of Bandcamp even though Dan Swano mixed the thing. The full thing is out tomorrow: https://music.aephanemer.com/album/prokopton
cheers
