relistening to this, remember being really impressed last time

also to clarify about that transcending the genre comment, I definitely meant it as more of a "wow this is more than just emo rap" instead of it being a genre "best"

either way it's his best project imo

really good review, blush. just can't get into this though, feels bare and the vocals are super amateurish and fail to resonate with me.

You're probably just too healthy to enjoy this gyro.

Yeah there are good ideas here, but this album doesn’t resonate at all. If I want sadboi hiphop I’ll just listen to nothing, nowhere.

Yeah...not seeing it. Lyrically this and nn are similar, but nn knows how to make it hooky and engaging. This is just too flat and monotone for me. Also the lyrics come off as more awkward than anything most of the time, despite some really good lines here and there.

This really isn’t even hip hop tbh. I mean there’s traces of it but it’s way more than that imo.

It's just singer-songwriter with a drum machine. Calling this hip-hop is laughable.

Yeah I associate this way more with darker indie stuff/lo-fi.

What about Rest though?

The whole album can be a bit much but that and Just One Thing are at least always fantastic.
