I am serious. How are y’all defending his rap verses?

I don't think they're bad imo, but it's understandable that people wouldn't like it.

Let's face it, there are bands who did this sort of thing a lot worse, and I'm not just talking nu-metal

I mean, the actual music is just generic metalcore. The kind of stuff you'd hear edgy teenagers listening to in high school. The riffs are boring as hell, the vocals are rly bad (the Emmure comparison was on point), and the lyrics are somehow still the worst part of this. It's pseudo poetry for people who get a hard on from throwing around big words trying to sound deep and intelligent. Hate hate hate this shite.

Rapping in metalcore is actually a normal thing now lol. The new Browning album has it too, plus some others from this year.

I'm going to go with my gut and bump this down one spot.

It’s been common for a while and it has always been a pretty bad idea.

I thought it was a new gimmick. Either way, I also don't like it much. Especially if the album tone is supposed to be "serious"

Great album, but it's a shame there's nothing on the level of "Psychescape" here. The prior album felt a bit more emotional.

This band sounds like something I would probably be into, but nothing I have heard from them ever clicks for me.

I don't remember any of the rapping parts on the last album, but it sounds awful all the same.

EWS is still tops for me.

The lyrics on this are tough to follow.

Not that they were a ton easier on EWS, but they were more down-to-earth and discussing personal turmoil more than anything else.

Also @Source:

Anders Friden is a better clean singer than the guy on this record. Sorrynotsorry. Then again, I actually ENJOY Anders' vocals.

Depths III is phenomenal.

Real shame the cleans on this record are the most forced and unbearable thus far.

They're not bad, but they could've been better.

Psychescape had some of the last album's best cleans because they brought in a guest.
