well theres no bass, drums are quite loud compared to other Metallica albums, guitar sounds very toneless (i actually like the sound though)

you get used to it

i would have liked it if they included more justice songs on s&m. blackened would've sounded sick with an orchestra

the drums sound awful. but yeah, this would be a 4.5 with better production as its the only "musical" Metallica album

favourite metallica album. everything they do done at its best. only downsides are the almost indistinguishable bass and i felt some of the songs were too long. they can still be epic and be under 5 mins.

Hands down my favourite Metallica album followed by RTL. The song structures and lyrics are the best Hetfield/Ulrich have ever come up with IMO. Hell, even the drumming is interesting for once.

This is the only album that I can listen to all the way through. Every other album has at least one bad song on it.

For me it's AJFA and MOP I don't need to the skip button for.

It's been so long that I don't even remember "Kill em All" anymore, but I know I skipped a lot of those songs.

RTL has "Escape" that always gets skipped

MOP has "The Thing that Should not be" and "Leper Messiah" that always get skipped.

The black album has "Wherever I May Roam", "Don't Tread on Me" and "Nothing Else Matters" that get skipped.

... and then there are a few later albums that are entirely skipped.

I do agree on skipping Escape, that was terrible. Most of the other songs you said I can listen to.

Fo Shizzle(sorry), but really I don't understand why that song gets so much hate. It is terribly underrated imo. This Message Edited On 09.05.08

This is one of Metallica's best. It their progression in the songs that make this one of their stand out recordings. I think the title track, Blackend, One, Frayed Ends of Sanity and Dyers Eve are great. The rest is awesome too. This was a more ambitious album for Metallica. If you didn't notice it's kind of a conceptual album. Yet it's still in your face and thrashes it up.
