The difference with Kendrick is that his delivery is fine 90% of the time and then his weird deliveries just come off as a nice change of pace, or a serve a story-driven purpose like on U. Wayne doesn’t have a single delivery style I’ve heard that I liked.

Drift I’ll be honest though I haven’t checked any of his mixtapes just his albums from Tha Carter II onward. I will give that link a spin tomorrow sometime

Tha Carter 3 is his crowning achievement far as I can tell (I skipped the last two albums). This is pretty great so far though, hoping it continues to impress

Let It Fly through Mono Lisa is a fantastic stretch.

I doubt this'll dethrone Astroworld for rap aoty but I'm enjoying a Weezy album in 2018 and that's pretty special. His ouput has been seriously lackluster in the last decade.

I love Carter 4 but yeah I haven’t dug anything he’s put out this much since No Ceilings came out.

I still gotta hear Astroworld, but Pusha T is my rap AOTY from what I’ve heard so far.

Pusha T is a very close 2nd for me. Astroworld just has more to offer, I don't think it's objectively better per se, just some really damn solid tunes with near perfect mixing.

it is for sure too long which is my biggest gripe but thats to be expected with wayne (or anything hip hop in 2018)

that said its one of the extremely rare instances when one of these too-long modern hh albums is actually consistent front to back

I’m gonna jam Astroworld tonight. NBA Youngboy’s album from this year is one of my favs as well. There’s been a lot of gems from what I’ve heard so far.

This is the biggest and best surprise of 2018. Fuck it, 5. A rap song hasn't made me cry in a few years and Let It All Work Out after that intro by his mom tears me up.
