Lol

This is a mid-high 4/5 during first listen, but tbh I can see this growing on me in the same way as 2015's Under the Red Cloud, which I rated a 4.5/5.
Difference being that I really enjoyed this in the first listen while Red Cloud took me a couple of listens to really appreciate its greatness.

[2] as enjoyable for me as Under the Red Cloud. I personally am missing how this is a superior record but I respect y'all's opinions on that.

Silent Waters is overrated for me. Only based on how many seem to think its the be all and end all. I like it but eclipse had better songs i reckon, as does circle, and the last two albums.
if making a best off 'A Servant' and 'Shaman' - 'silent waters' and 'Towards and against' be the only songs id take of it, they are so good.
But even beginning has more songs id consider - Mermaid, Three Words, you I need, reformation, and especially crack in a stone are just as good.
Silent Waters is great, but for me not really any stronger than any of the others.

Silent Waters' songs are just much more interesting in terms of structure and dynamics compared to songs of its three successors. That said, I'm still convinced that Under the Red Cloud is their best release. They mastered the multi-layered and still catchy style on there and it's super consistent.

tbh I prefer UTRC and Circle over Silent Waters

Circle's guitar sound is a travesty. Gives me a headache. That's why I don't listen to it much, but it's great, even though it doesn't feel half as fleshed-out as UTRC.

[2] rarely discussed on this site but Skyforger is one of the best new era Amorphis albums IMO. UTRC might be the best, but Skyforger is as good as Queen of Time or Silent Waters for me. Circle and Beginning of Times were disappointing, but the opening track on Beginning of Times, Battle for Light, is incredible.

Its a fine album. I'm all about Sky Is Mine.
Was thinking for 2 seconds about making an Amorphis top 10 songs, but it would demand some effort.

Yeah ok, but I don't think it's worth having an Amorphis top 10.

Skyforger is definitely underappreaciated. Has some really beautiful melodies. I guess people didn't like the lighter direction of that album, but I always liked its breezy feel. (It has a few unremarkable tracks though.)
