@soccer u right u right, that's obviously the most logical reason. I just find it more enjoyable (for me) to witness a band devolve, which definitely isn't the case for every band. idk how to explain it, it's just cool to hear a band's sound after they've released a couple albums and see the maturation.

@Kev: yeah, I can see that too. It's interesting to hear a more crude and base-level sound after already knowing how they matured. Truth be told, I kinda did that with Metallica when it came to Kill 'Em All

I really like this so far, feels like they hit a production sweet spot and streamlined (?) the songwriting so it’s really groovy

Dark spring, black car, and l'inconnue are all great, otherwise I feel like I'm listening to a different album than the rest of you. I have really come around to it overall but lose your smile, woo, and girl are all so dull. Latter half is definitely far weaker

Just had my breakthrough listen with this, definitely a 4/5 now - album lands somewhere between 'And Then Nothing' period YLT, last year's Slowdive and a bit of Air and the Chromatics...all blended with the usual Beach House thing.

I did listen to my AOTY of 2017 Cigarettes After Sex today - as much as I still think that's better than this there are similarities all the same. 'Lemon' and 'Lose Your Smile' are still a tiny bit bland, other than that I'm digging everything else.
