I've never questioned snides passion when he writes reviews. especially for this band. I wish he would take the fanboy goggles off and look at the album from a reviewers standpoint when writing it. Like is this album truly flawless like he says or are their things that could have been done better. I wouldn't even care if he kept the 5 as the score.

I really doubt you'd be as critical of a review in this aspect if Snide reviewed one of your 5's with the same rating. Plus, with the context of the review I don't think this is applicable, this is just Snide trying to defend why he likes the album so much instead of a traditional ‘review’.

Maybe I wouldn't be who knows, plus I never said this is a bad review, he clearly took the time to explain all the reasons he loves this album and I respect that regardless of my low opinion of that.

why do you doubt this? what are you even basing this claim on? seems like a total shot in the dark.

people are capable of at least attempting to use a quasi-objective rubric when analyzing something they love fulsomely, or trying to engage it from a different vantage point. and i'm not even saying snide didn't do this, just saying this seems like a dubious claim to make.

Because unless they're writers of reviews themselves I don't really see people on Sput giving reviews criticism regardless of what's being covered. It just happens to be the fact it's a fanboy review of something they despise which brought out that comment. Maybe it should be better worded to I'd doubt they'd comment that same criticism rather than they wouldn't think it but I still think it's less likely to happen because confirmation bias.

yea that's fair. personally, i've read a few 5/5 gushy reviews of albums i also had 5'd, and were turned off by them. but what you're saying would prob ring true for a lot of ppl, i would assume.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful praise for the review. I understand that no matter how much I defend Black Veil Brides, not everyone is going to enjoy it. But that wasn't my goal with this review. My goal was to tell everyone just how important this album is to me, to give a critical analysis of the music itself that gives weight to my 5/5 rating, and to back up each of those stances. I'm just happy that people are at least giving songs from this album a chance and even listening to the full album. I think everyone here knows that I genuinely love this band, and it's okay if you don't agree. I'm just happy you guys took the time to read the review and try them out. Cheers my dudes!
