Except this one was built/hyped up to an absolutely ludicrous degree and accompanied by a ridiculous funding campaign, so yeah there were certain expectations to be met that surpass your average album

Haters gonna hate. Most people here are somehow angry about the crowdfunding and they rate it negatively because people had to pay 50 Euros for this or because other bands can produce albums in a shorter time with a better mix. However you are not rating the music then. I see the album as a perk/gem to contribute to their crowdfunding campaign. From those 50 Euros probably only a very small percentage of money was used to produce this album.



I think musically speaking this album is slightly better than Time I although no song is as great as "Sons of Winter and Stars". On average it's better though. I have almost the same criticism as to Time I: guitars too low on the mix, orchestrations too dominant. I like their s/t the most because the melodies were driven by the guitars mostly and this I kinda miss here. Nevertheless the album is very good I think, it surpassed my expectations slightly. So it's around a 4 for me. I do hope that in the future they will focus more on guitar driven sound though.

i don't think anyone got mocked. i just pointed out that, especially if you take the sputnik-specific shitstorm concerning every wintersun crowdfunding news in consideration, a lot of raters seem negatively biased. it is also one point if you take an ideology in terms of black goat of goatmoon clearly being a fascist asshole as reason for downvoting an album and another one if you do it because you don't like jari for initiating a crowdfunding campaign and being a diva. the latter should not weigh in as much as the former.

absolutely. been reading several reviews from several countries and haven't seen such bad ratings anywhere else. sputnik hates jari :'(
