the pronunciation of "play" and the bouncy "A ring in a box but not your dream
It's not a diamond, it's aquamarine" of Aquamarine is just too cringe inducing.

Dryden, man, your avatar is bringing me back to Elementary School so hard. I always skipped that page of the book. Too much spook.

this deserves to be rated higher tbh, very solid album outside of "the afterglow" and "cut and run"

@Jayender yeah man. That was some messed up stuff. Honestly, the stories that got me were the ones attached to pictures. Man this artist had some fucked up stuff.

Goodness me, to think I left listening to this until late in the year because I thought this would simply be another Silverstein 3.7ísh album rating.
Seriously, I've been jamming this all week and love it. I'm probably in the minority, but this is exactly the direction I wanted them to head in.

I should give this another listen, because I barely remember it

Problem is it's a rather worse version of My Disaster from Arrivals. But definitely not a bad song, yeah.

I'm liking this album more on my second full listen of it but it'll probably be around a 3 for me.
My favorite Silverstein album is When Broken Is Easily Fixed so I prefer their sound with emo-influenced arpeggios and brighter guitar tones with leads cutting over the rhythm.
I think one of my biggest issues with this record is the "Bring Me the Horizon guitar tone" that all the heavier songs have. It makes Silverstein sound less like Silverstein to me and blend in more with all the other bands that sound exactly the same.
I'll agree that the main riff of Cut and Run is similar to My Disaster but I think it made me like the song more. The Afterglow is probably the worst song this band has ever done and I can't believe it made the cut.
As a side note, the chorus of Secret Safe reminds me of the chorus of Blue and Yellow by The Used and I kept waiting to hear Bert's voice come in.
Overall, a good album for me and I'll keep coming back to Mirror Box, Lost Positives, and Wake Up but I hope they can get a more original sound on their next release instead of falling into the Rise-core blur of bands.

Whenever I go to listen to this again, the buffalo calls my name and I listen to How The Wind Shifts instead

@LightAndGlass I hate to break it to you but The Afterglow is the most streamed song by Silverstein currently on Spotify. I can understand why you would hate it, but the songs pop sensibilities and pretty tacky lyrics make it an infectious and accessible song for more casual music listeners. Personally I really enjoy the catchy chorus (despite it being a little too blatantly poppy).
@SteakByrnes How the Wind Shifts is definitely stronger! Stand Amid the Roar might be my favorite Silverstein song at this point ... I am alive had some bangers, but just felt like a bunch of random silverstein rehashing.

Stand Amid The Roar has one of the catchiest riffs I've ever heard
