The Slowdive album is a fair bit better imo but I can see how this is a masterpiece if you're fully on board with the aesthetic it brings.

The slight problem I have with the Slowdive is I'm not the biggest fan of shoegaze itself, so the moments I most like are the least shoegaze-y. The 'Cocteau Twins meets Slowdive' of 'Don't Know Why', the 'Blue Nile meets Slowdive' of 'Sugar for the Pill' and the two excellent closing tracks. The rest is great but when they head for a 'proper shoegaze riff' it sounds super familiar to me.
This doesn't really sound like anything and it's got an attitude on it.
