Oh nice klap, I'll look out for that review. Amazing album, I have it at a 4 but 4.5 might be more appropriate - only issue is that it's a bit too long, if it had been narrowed down to the best 45 minutes instead of 75 it would probably be a 5 for me.
Guitar tone there is incredible ye. Can't beat Magnolia Mountain, Life is Beautiful, Cherry Lane, Let It Ride, Cold Roses, Sweet Illusions, When Will You Come Back Home, Easy Plateau, etc.

Yeah 3 albums including a double album is insane. Still haven't heard the other two from that year, silly me. I'll have to go on a binge to finally finish all the Adams albums I haven't heard yet.

Such is the dilemma of the Adams fan
The problem with Adams is that he has a relatively poor sense of quality control and he releases a shit ton of stuff - he's a great songwriter, but every great songwriter has to write a lot of bad songs too. The difference with Adams is that he just puts it all out there. You have to sift through the chaff but he's arguably written as many great songs as any other artist in the past couple decades.
I wrote this earlier in the thread, do you pretty much agree with that klap?

Ya for sure. Definitely my favorite artist who has a lot of stuff I will never listen to again

As a huge Springsteen fan and a not-so-big Ryan Adams fan, this really sounds very little like Springsteen. Even just in terms of the songwriting/lyrics, I don't think there's that much in common. Obviously going for a very 80s-influenced sound here though.
|
| |
Perhaps his arguments aren't justified within the context of Adams' entire work, but I think the line of argument itself, and the point of criticism, are sound, if disagreed upon. I like Adams, so I'll still listen to this, but I loved this writeup, one of my favourites so far this year.
Also, this thread is great already.

Havent heard this..only like his debut anyway

'this really sounds very little like Springsteen'
Say what
'Outbound Train' doesn't sound like Springsteen? Wtf
If War on Drugs are criticised for sounding 50% like Springsteen that song sounds 95% like him.
I mean Ryan has different vocal chords which he can't change (barring some experimental surgery perhaps) but other than that he's doing everything he can to sound exactly like the man. It's uncanny. It's obvious. It's beyond all argument.

Thanks Hippo, appreciated

The point is: Is this as good as Corey Feldman's?
Edit: Nice write-up as always Doofus. Mental pos.
|

I'm thinking instead of fleshing it out, Doof, you might want to consider trimming it down more. I haven't heard the album, and I don't know for sure if I ever heard the artist, so this is strictly based on your review, but here goes:
There once was a poser named Ryan
Whose shitty music had me cryin'
He raked in the bucks
For music that sucks
For which someday his soul will be fryin'

Thanks Dewi
Ah well, I gotta clear things up right now and say this is miles ahead of a 0.5 album like the Corey Feldman lol
I'll really start worrying about Ryan if he starts believing he can dance like Jacko though
