i'm perhaps most surprised about people calling this generic. i basically listen to nothing but top 40, phil collins, and metalcore, so im just wondering what genus you are using for your frame of reference here

but what is this similar too tho, like i know instrumentally it's similar to p. much all other modern indie pop-ish r&b --think claps, clicks, beats etc--, but that's a p. shallow analysis. this is sonically much darker than other r&b, and lyrically it's angrier, which is why i love banks in the first place lol >:]
it kinda sounds like fka twigs, but more bass-heavy and emotionally angrier; it sounds like bitchier pop artists, but more mature and darker; it's pretty distinct from other music from its genres
