I agree Rabid. First listen I really liked it and it got worse every proceeding listen. Think I would like Channel Orange better since this is supposed to be really stripped down in comparison.

yeah channel orange has more beat-driven songs, and it's much more of a pop album

This is an album made out of moments... Some truly great moments. Songs? not so much.

CO has good songs, but it suffers from lack of direction, even more than this one.

Not huge on Ivy and Pink & White, which are probably flagship songs for this record. Some good stuff here though. Nights, Self Control, and Nikes are near the top for me. Album as a whole certainly isn't on Channel Orange level for me.

The second half doesnt compare to the first. Also, the skits suck so bad.

Ok, 'Solo' has become unbearable for me on the third listen. Sounds like Mariah Carey crying, get it together Franky - you whingin' son, you whingin'

That 'fond farewell to a friend' Elliott Smith lyric rings so hollow here...at this point 'Skyline To' is the only thing I really like here

It's not even the change in direction (though not having a quality 'big hit' here is kinda criminal after Channel Orange really) it's the whole atmosphere and tone blends and becomes obnoxious somewhere down the line.

A more restrained Ocean album I could handle, but I'm calling it - this is a whinge fest

This is my 'emperors new clothes' album of 2016. I'm really not hearing what everyone else is hearing. I'll keep giving it the occasional spin though.
