I dig Colored Sands a lot but I just didn't feel like a whole lot happened during this EP's run time. Really don't see the Colored Sands mixed with Obscura comparisons I've read around this site and others. The only thing really Obscura-esque about this is maybe the darker atmosphere that Colored Sands didn't have. Hoping its a grower but I don't feel like there's many memorable riffs. The most impressive part was the rhythm section on my first couple listens.

Agree with Spacesh1p, this seems to meander in a not very compelling way. When I think about what a band like Moonsorrow or Edge of Sanity did with this much time...



Still, second half starting around 17:30 or so is way better than everything up to that point. Need a couple more listens but I'm not seeing the 4.4ness

When this was announced I was excited but then realized they would probably continue the path of colored sands so my hype died down, this is about what I expected.

It's not a 2 for me for sure, but it's not quite the release that I felt "Wandering Times" promised. Like I said, I just don't feel like there's many compelling riffs here and that's a big disappointment.

luc does this on every guts album and this was no different for me personally

I'm a guitar player myself and I agree, they are technically impressive, but so far not memorable to me. That might change, I'm far from giving up on this.
