I have anger problems galore. I guess I reflect some of it in my writings or my poetry. I don't write confessional poetry, though; I have more of a modernistic approach to my writings. I adopt a more stereotypical writing style for my reviews.

I adore Deftones for some odd reason.

the whole point of music is enjoyment Wil, so if you rock out to deftones then all that means is you found something that makes you happy, and that's fuckin awesome

"Trying to pinpoint where Gore went wrong is like trying to describe why a school bus driving off a cliff is sad. The answers are as complex as they are blindingly obvious."
If they're blindingly obvious, give us what they are instead of two sentences saying why it's a soulless record. Your first two paragraphs really intrigued me, but there's no real criticism in this review, let alone enough to justify a 1.5 rating.

I come from a similar place as Wil. I'm not on here constantly -- I can't afford to be. I also come from a somewhat academic background in philosophy. Admittedly, I have trouble switching off that side of me in other contexts. I'm not expressing so much "outrage" and "angst" -- unlike this review -- as more annoyance with Sputnik's politics and culture. The fact that someone would characterize most of what I've written on this thread as such just rubs raw that analytical side of me that I'm sure some are finding pedantic and overly serious, but that is considered just good manners in the other circles I deal in.
And that's the point: That lack of nuance, rationality and charity that can be found in threads, of which I'm not accustomed to, stirs up something irrational within me. I know some people are here to have a good time and shoot the shit or whatever. In my mind, however, if I put the time and effort to listen to x and write a review (which can be hours of work) or comment reasonably about y on someone else's review, I expect some courtesy if someone chooses to respond. I don't go out of my way to belittle someone or be obnoxious, so why should you.
Perhaps that's unreasonable for here or the Internet in general, but hey, that's my mindset when I operate on Sputnik.
