I like her here. As I said though, she's a lot more enjoyable for me with just cleans and when they're trading off vox. They compliment each other very well.

"Cult of Luna doesn't require open-minded listening. If anything it's a pretty basic genre that is accomodating to "beginners" in metal. Julie Christmas is just an annoying singer. "

What are you smocking?

yeah you can't cry "open-minded" anytime someone doesn't grasp an album you like. sput in general loves this sorta thing, and many users are praising Christmas

Praising Christmas would have been a better album title than Mariner.

"To think post-metal isn't a beginner's genre is silly. It's melodic, easy on the ears and feels special if you're just getting into "extreme" music. Any kid's gonna be more enraptured by Somewhere Along the Highway over Apocalyptic Raids if you're showing him metal for the first time. It's the easy metal genre."

Are you implying that someone would digest a 10 minute song easier that a 3-4 minute riff barrage? That's bullshit and you know it

It's actually called post-metal because most of it is as boring as sitting on the ground and staring at a post.

not really what he said. post-metal albums aren't by default longer than non-post-metal albums; not sure while you're referring to songs in particular. nonetheless, just because a song runs longer doesn't mean it has more food-for-thought content to sift through.

He said that PM is easier to get into rather than some DM/BM band and I'm calling bullshit on that one. Because most people just don't have the attention span to listen to something that actually relies on huge buildups, from my point of view a song that is full on balls to the wall riffs is a lot easier to listen to

I showed CoL, Neurosis and Isis to some of my friends and they were all in yawm mode. One of them actually enjoyed a certain part on an Isis song but that's it

hellhammer wouldn't be the most accessible artist in that genre to begin with tho lol

oh I was just saying that if I wanted to get some ppl into DM or BM I wouldn't start with Hellhammer and go with with something more melodic as opposed to Cult of Luna which is a pretty entry level band for post-metal imo

I'm with you for the rest of the argument tho dw

The band has not produced anything good since SATH, so I guess it's bad.
@OvDeath you might be correct about Neurisis, but their early albums were kinda inaccessible for average passer by. There must be some special kind of friends withstanding Deconstructing Towers or Lexicon.
