Oh Tidal, you worthless piece of shite.

yah idk, as an album this is better than koi, as it lacks koi's most generic chug moments (although some of the breakdowns in this are pretty tedious), but it also lacks any shining moments like koi. rubicon is easily the best song and i enjoy it a decent bit, despite the last minute being pretty w/e. phantom bride is bound to be the most overrated deftones song ever and has probably their worst lyrics on the record.
overall it's enjoyable and has cool moments, like in acid hologram, but there's no 'holy shit' moment like in listening to entombed or what happened

it's higher quality than spotify though and the difference is noticeable
it's also kind of shit and it's also wayyyy louder than spotify which is just annoying

oh and hearts/wires seems to already be their most divisive new song, although i can't understand why. song is straight up boring as fuck

I love the verses on hearts/wires but the chorus is pretty boring

This is definitely the best Deftones since Saturday Night Wrist for me, and I feel like I'll end up enjoying it more in the long run. Excellent record.

I could see people that love SNW loving this album, since it's got the same kind of messy vibe and a lot of awkwardness and transitions into major key that are really what.
so if that's what you're into I guess

Also I feel like the drums and vocals on the whole on this album are too low in the mix

My holy shit moment comes along with the title track and Rubicon, I think, And yeah, Phantom Bride is kinda overrated.

Gore and Rubicon has a tone to them, that just doesn't go unnoticed.

personally, it's obviously a grower like s/t or snw were. Each listen has gotten better for me since it leaked. It's a rather different sound for the deftones but it is still very much them.
Arenaline was my first CD I purchased when I transitioned from my cassette player in '95 and they're still putting out albums I enjoy. Can't complain much.

Deftones have never done too much for me, but this is pretty engaging. Chino's listless style of singing has always bored me, and he doesn't change my opinion with this album, but the instrumentals I feel have a bit more inspiration than in past efforts. Maybe that biased because I love the little bits of Jesu influence on tracks like Acid Hologram and toward the end of Doomed User (too bad that cheesy riff the song is based around pretty much ruins the song).
Album has a good flow though, and really ends on a high note.

Good review, pos'd.
Anyone else think the "SKYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!" scream in the middle part of Pittura is kind of cringe-worthy? I overall really dig that little bridge though.

i'll have to go back and listen. the little bridge guitar riff is killer though for as simple as it is.

yeah gore and rubicon are my favorites too.
as an album it's great, but there aren't as many 'wow' moments as i've come to expect from deftones. most of the tracks aren't bad but they aren't amazing either
