What qualifies strictly as avant garde? Because I feel like a lot of things just get labeled as alternative nowadays if their isn't one genre so-to speak.

I always considered avant garde to mean "experimental" and like Mars mentioned "pushes the envelope". I do feel like these guys experiment way more than other deathcore bands.
