It doesn't suck even though it does warrant criticism because of the tone and unapologetic bias, but it's not that big of a deal. Everyone gets an opinion, ya know? I'd rather defend his right to be wrong than go after him or anyone for their shitty opinion of something that is subjective. My main thing I would say if I did was that you could assume a little less about the band members intentions when you are trying to talk shit about their performance.

This album is probably a 3 to me. I'll check it out in the next year or two I'm sure.

Bumped my rating for this, been listening to it a lot. Takes a few plays to make some of the tracks stand out, but there are actually a lot of highlights here.

Did a double take when I heard Strength of the Mind because I thought for sure I was hearing Bjorn Strid.

this really grew on me after a couple listens. Jesse really is like the perfect metalcore vocalists. His cleans are so good.

I don't understand what the underwhelming comments are about. This album was awesome regardless of what people think. It may sound different, but in no means does it deserve this low of a rating. To each his own I guess...

the thing is that this doesn't sound different. as much as I like this there really isn't anything that's particularly creative in terms of Killswitch Engage's standards.

It is a mix between Disarm the Descent and their first album. They may have been heavier with Howard, but I always liked Jesse's vocals better. Ever since they started I've been following them. The album may not sound much different but it is still amazing. A mix of heavy and some lighter songs... He's just very passionate about his music and I just don't think the connection is the same as when Howard was involved...

Finally got round to jamming this and yeah I've still got a major Killswitch soft spot.
The cleans are way too autotuned and there's too many of them tho.
This is about on the same level as Disarm the Descent for me which is like a 3 I guess.
I will always love their first self-titled, AOJB, EOH and ADD and at the end of the day will probably just go back to those if I ever want to listen to Killswitch.

"The cleans are way too autotuned and there's too many of them tho."
I didn't hear any autotune in the cleans at all tbh
