I'm very excited to listen to this tonight. I like that you cite Leaving Your Body Map as a recommendation, because I felt some STRONG Maudlin/Kayo Dot vibes from The Marrow Veil and I was hoping they'd expand on that. Excellent review!

Hi Mr. Howls, I love your stuff. Are you excited for Dark Souls 3?

HoB/Snox are right here, in my opinion. The only point of view that the original post was suggesting (however it was written, I personally didn't find it offensive) was taking your time with the music might have an impact on your opinion, which is more than reasonable. If HoB had told me my opinion is invalid until I've jammed this record naked on my floor 5 times in a row in complete darkness, I would probably challenge that. As it is, completely fair comment to make. I try not to rate things until at least a few weeks and spins have passed, for myself.

As usual, the few only read from a defensive standpoint(aka AdolfChrist) and miss the mark. If you can't the see inherent shallowness of people rashly splooging opinions simply for the sake of being marginally relevant in a mircoforum universe, you are forever lost my friend.

So yeah, if you think you can place judgement on an album as complex as Cursus in a day, you are a fool. And if you don't like, delete and burn our records! Scum

how exactly are people supposed to read a post like this from a band and not get a bit testy? honest question

It's condescending but I tend to agree so it didn't bother me.

I think immaturity will breed testy attitude. What HoB have to say on the matter is golden. The point is to encourage you not to make conclusions without mulling over the topic (or in this case, album) at hand because otherwise you'll blind yourself to the album's flaws and just become bored of it without any reasoning. When you are also dealing with a community as large (and oftentimes sporadic) as Sputnik, being intentional with your wording can be pretty important.

Agreed. I may not have expressed HoB's point in the same language but the message remains valid.

because music ratings are serious business guys and we shouldn't post them all willy nilly

seriously, I'm sorry but I'm not going to let someone tell me how I should interpret their music. The whole point of listening to music would be ruined given that too

This band is awesome, but yeah the whole concept of this argument is stupid.

i get that, but he's really not doing it in a very eloquent way at all

people have different residence times when it comes to appreciating music, i don't see why that is so hard to understand

I mean I can understand his point, but why come here and try to convince people otherwise? He's acting like the opinions of people on Sputnik are gonna make or break the band.

Of the time I've communicated with the guy on facebook anticipating the album and all, that previous statement seems oddly inconsiderate and unthought out by him. I guess running your own pr efforts yourself could make way for some fumbles, case in point.

Valid stuff. Arguing with the fan base isn't gonna work out well. Still loving the record 10 spins in. Best dm I've heard this year

Yeah my first impression was pretty great. I thought the vocals in particular were very much the culmination of the first two releases. Really impressive.

Edit: I'm sure it has been discussed but the cover art is also perfect for this.
