'lol u wild. 3.3 is way too low, it's a 3.5 at the lowest. I think we can all somewhat agree on that.'

Or perhaps not, seeing as the average is 3.3 whether you agree with that or not. Plenty of people just don't like this band and I'm sorry about that. It's not some conspiracy where people are rating this low just to annoy you, they just disagree with your subjective opinion, that's all.

I'll get round to listening eventually, but I'm not expecting it to be much better than their 1st effort (which was actually decent if a slight disappointment).

Yes it´s a generalization but he did say he liked Opeth so. Also, what I´m saying is that I feel like Sputnik has a strong bias towards music like this. I mean, look at the other reviews for this. Not exactly rating it a masterpiece, but certainly not saying it´s bad. I mean you can find an album with a good 4-star review but then find Sputnik has it rated at 3.3-3.5 or something. I know that won´t change and I don´t care, I´m just commenting on it. I have no problem with anyone hating on this at all, but I feel like some of the 1.5s are a little unwarranted.

Also was waiting for someone to make that good pop comment? Does good pop exclusively mean artsy pop or...?

No. for example Carly Rae Jepsen's newest record beats what I've heard from this record by a landslide, and I really wouldn't consider that artsy.

Didn't you have this as a 5 a few hours ago? Well in all honesty, it's cringe-worthy, at times generic and just standard with nothing too interesting about this. The sputnik community circlejerks a lot of Grimes as a benchmark of pop here.

and in all honesty, if you heard some of the beloved sput albums or even pitchfork albums with a high average, there will definitely be some you detest. Regardless of what everyone else says, if it truly repels you, then it warrants whatever low rating you give it, with reason, no matter what anyone else will say about it

I don´t really hate any acclaimed music though. Guess that´s just me though. And I definitely get your complaints about the album, but seeing as it´s an improvement, I don´t think the average reflects that in comparison with their debut. But I´m not up in arms about it or anything, which is what it seems like you guys think.

Also love me some Grimes and Carly Rae

well, for me, it's like a 2 or 2.5 because for the most part, it's very uneventful and just doesn't interest me but Matt Healy's voice, my gosh, it's so annoying that it drops it down to a 2

And one of the reasons why I love it is because it´s cringe worthy. It has no shame and is so self aware of it´s cringey-ness. I love poppy music that is unafraid to be exactly what it is, and not think it´s better than that (which people seem to think this band thinks they´re better than all others?) I know that sounds pretentious as hell and probably doesn´t even make sense to you and that´s okay. This album is far from something new, but it is a hell of a good time. And that´s the least I could ask of it.

Lol you find a band's music cringeworthy and yet you still love it? Each to his own I guess.

The production and sound is a massive improvement from the 1st album but I do feel those ambient sections kind of stop this album from being something better, especially since it's 74 minutes long altogether because of them. If there were a few gear changes as well, like the 1st album, I think it could've been better (e.g. The City to M.O.N.E.Y., Robbers to Girls). But still, I think this beats their debut when put up against it.
