Are you kidding me?!! Adam Jones not a good guitar player? Doesn't have a considerable amount of skill? If Brain Dead knew anything about musical compsition and theory he would never make such an absurd statement. I am a bass player and have a ton of respect for Justin Chancellor but Adam Jones is just as much of a talent or more than the rest of the band, he also wrote most of Justin's bass parts on Aenima. It wasn't until Lateralus that Justin became very involved in their writing process. Adam isn't your typical lead guitar player and doesn't have a shredding solo in every song but that doesn't make him any less of a talent. Adam has some extremely complex guitar parts to play and has to play them while he, Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor are playing in completely different time signatures. This is not easy to pull off, especially live but he does it on a nightly basis because he is a professional, a supreme talent and an inspiration to so many other guitarists.

I can't believe I just discovered Tool recently, about a month ago, but I am glad in a way. It gave me refreshing music to listen to when I was feeling bored with music. Problem solved.

"There's no love in fear.

Staring down the hole again.

Hands upon my back again.

Survival is my only friend.

Terrified of what may come.

Just remember I will always love you,

Even as I tear your fucking throat away.

But it will end no other way."

Favorite lyrics of any song, hands down. I should really bump this CD to a 5, i'm liking it more than Lateralus every day it seems like.

Yeah Tool was a music saving band for me, I was growing bored with everything else then found this album and decided it was unlike anything else Ive ever heard, this ultimately lead to me opening to more genres than rock and I can say I listen to almost everything now besides country lol, Great review though, the fillers deserve to be rated as they make up a big part of the album and are a keystone for Tool albums

i just want to point out that the third eye is the spiritual eye that is supposed to open when one reaches a higher state of conciousness. knowing that, listening to that song makes it a lot more interesting for me. Tool have a LOT of spiritual influences in their lyrics...

Oh, and H. kicks major ass. so does Hooker With A Penis. =)This Message Edited On 07.23.08

Adam Jones is extremely talented, just to be capable of grooving in the time signatures that tool plays is no walk in the park, not to mention composition counts for something

I don't understand why everyone loves this album. Undertow had much more energy, and the songs were more meaningful.

The title track is the only great song on this album

Seriously, what the deal with 46 and 2? Why sing a song about two numbers? That makes no sense.

I think you'll find 46 & 2 is about genes and evolution. They're not actually singing about those two specific numbers.

i seriously don't think any Tool song is as straightforward as a "song about two numbers"

I also used to skip Third Eye, and then it ends up being one of my favorites off here... next to all the other songs. This Message Edited On 08.17.08

Tool was my first pretentious band...i listened to lateralus a million times and always thought this was weaker...i got sick of them and went like a year without Tool...my God how they have returned to excel my ear.

This is better than Lateralus and is better han most anything. Not one second is waisted here and every track is superb.

Third Eye ius so fucking good it's rediculousThis Message Edited On 10.01.08
