Light-years, from the new album, is a good song

^ the melodic soloing in that song is sweet.
My favorites for now are Inside Out and Portrait.
Inside Out's chorus sounds like a modernized take on NM 156, love it. There's definitely some Ryche swagger and feel in The Verdict that was missing before. Still, I think there's a lack of class that's hard to not notice. Perhaps they should soften their sound a bit. More stuff like Portrait next time, please!
And a dynamic master wouldn't hurt either, the production on the Todd-era albums is a hindering factor. You can't be classy/artsy/"thinking man metal" if your album is DR 7.

I got a full-length passive listen in finally, and I am digging it. Even Levant and Reverie are growing on me.
I'm a little afraid that they don't have a Firepower in them, though. It might be different if they knew an album was going to be their last, I guess.

I don't understand the praise for Firepower so we kinda have to differ here haha.

Dark Reverie is also a good jam

I dig the spiraling guitar around 1:20 in that one. I'm really digging that part around 4:00 into Bent at the moment, definitely inspired by a section of Roads to Madness.

I actually got around to spinning the Verdict a couple times. I dig it. Wanna sit with it some more before rating.
Had to come back to this for the bangers, though.

So many bangers. Was shocked with how good this album was when it came out.

Def prefer the new one but it could have used a softer song like Just Us.

Bulletproof came up on random today and that chorus is just fucking huge. I've really come to quite like that track.

As a matter of fact, it’s their best ballad since Lucidity

Man I love me some Just Us, great tune. Just Us and Portrait are both top-tier Toddryche for me, hope they let the pedal off the metal a bit more in the future. The recent Forest wasn't great (I did warm up to it a little though - at least to its instrumental base) but those other songs definitely give me hope
