Yeah, all those genres were starting to hit their strides... but it wasn't until the really late 80s-mid 90s where they were became really solid.
Like I said, it may just be a manner of me not listening to the right stuff... but I just dont find it all that interesting. Also a lot of the pop from the 80s rubs me the wrong way which may be a big problem.
