All I care about is that Martin Grech is a guest vocalist on Hexes.

Blimey. Djent is rubbish, a-ha are rubbish, Steven wilsonisms are rubbish, lack of fire is rubbish, inability to rock is rubbish, nerd metal is rubbish, soppy bollocks vocals are rubbish, but this is great!

I'm thinking anyone that doesn't love this album only hates it because it doesn't have enough screaming and blast beats. We listen to metal because we're angry and boss IMIRITE?? ....
AOTY

his falsetto in Phoenix is fucking crazy, hes been working very hard to expand his range, or so ive heard

Album Rating: 4.0
his range has definitely improved that's for sure

Well if it's falsetto then he didn't really need to work to expand the scale. or not as much as if it was his head voice. will need to listen and see which it is

Dan's got some chops thats for sure, his best offering is still absent hearts though

It's funny seeing people talking about how this is a "safe" album that takes no risks. I think in the way they lightened up the sound, experimented with multiple vocal styles, and kept up with the stream-of-consciousness album flow and extremely amorphous song structures, that they have released an extremely unsafe record. Especially while continuing to alienate the hardcore fanbase of the first album / the djent subgenre. Though, I do wish they'd have evolved the guitar riffs a bit more.

Its definitely better than the standard "djent bro band" you'll find on bandcamp
